Pastor Akinbinu is committed to spreading the Gospel because he believes that God’s Word is able to transform and empower all who believe. He stands on the promise of Philippians 1:6: “He that hath begun a good work in you is faithful to perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.”
Having been raised in the church, Pastor Bankole Akinbinu was set apart to serve and proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ at an early age. Pastor Akinbinu accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior at the age of ten and was later called into the Gospel Ministry at sixteen years of age. On June 16, 2001, he preached his trial sermon at Community Bible Baptist Church in Prince George’s County, Maryland. After serving eight years as a licensed minister, he was ordained in September 2009.
Pastor Akinbinu is committed to education. He began his undergraduate studies at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia, transferring his sophomore year to Washington Bible College in Lanham, Maryland, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Bible Theology. In May 2010, Rev. Akinbinu was conferred the Master’s of Divinity Degree from Princeton Theological Seminary in Princeton, New Jersey.
In January 2012, Pastor Akinbinu was called to be the Pastor of Baptist Grove Church in Raleigh, North Carolina. Prior to serving in the pastorate, he faithfully served as the Young Adult Assistant Pastor at Community Bible Baptist Church, under the pastoral leadership of Rev. Dr. Clevester O. Wimbish. During his tenure, he was instrumental in leading the early morning Young Adult Service, as well as shaping and growing the new ministry. He was also a member of the Young Adult Praise Team, Morning Glory. He also served as the Minister to Youth and Young Adults at St. James A.M.E. Church in Newark, New Jersey.
Pastor Akinbinu has been abundantly blessed with the opportunity to express the gift God has given him on various platforms, including universities, revivals, conferences, and worship services around the country. In 2010, Pastor Akinbinu was the recipient of the Aaron E. Gast Award in Urban Ministry, which is given annually to a member of the Princeton Theological Seminary community who demonstrates a unique gifting for ministering within a major metropolitan area. In 2014, Pastor Akinbinu participated in a White House Summit on “Working Families-focusing on creating a 21st century workplace that works for all Americans.” He is presently a Doctoral student at Duke University Divinity School.
In August 2007, Pastor Akinbinu married his wife Angel. They are the proud parents of Alivia Alexandra and Elijah Alexander.
