Surrender Is Not Defeat
Devotional From The Sermon: From A Place of Pressure
Rev. Quishun Jenkins
Reading: Matthew 26:36-39
Devotional:
There is a profound difference between what we want and what we need. Jesus acknowledged his own will before he surrendered to the Father’s. That sequence matters. Surrender is not the denial of your feelings it is the decision to trust God’s purposes beyond your own preferences. We live in a culture that equates surrender with weakness, but in the kingdom of God, surrender is the posture of the mature. When you pray “your will be done,” you are not giving up. You are placing your deepest need into the hands of the One who has never failed to provide. That is not defeat. That is faith.
Personal Reflection: Is there an area of your life where your will and God’s will are in tension? What would genuine surrender look like in that specific situation?
