Living in Revelation, Not Just Information

Devotional From The Sermon: Beyond What You Know

Rev. Rev. Dr. Bankole Akinbinu

Reading: Romans 4:13-25

Devotional:

Abraham had every reason to look at his circumstances and conclude that what God promised was impossible. His body was as good as dead. Sarah’s womb was barren. By every measurable standard, the information before him said the promise would not come to pass. And yet Scripture tells us he did not waver in unbelief. He grew strong in faith, giving glory to God. Abraham was not living on information. He was living on revelation. God had spoken, and that was enough. The same God who spoke to Abraham is speaking to you. You may be surrounded by evidence that contradicts what God has promised. Choose today to be fully convinced that what God has promised, he is able to perform.

Personal Reflection:

  • What promise of God are you currently struggling to believe because your circumstances contradict it?
  • How does Abraham’s example challenge the way you respond to unanswered prayer or delayed promises?

Practical Application: Find one promise in Scripture that speaks directly to a need in your life. Write it on a notecard and place it somewhere you will see it every day. Read it aloud each morning as an act of faith.
