Consecrated Imagination
Devotional From The Sermon: Beyond What You Know
Rev. Rev. Dr. Bankole Akinbinu
Reading: Isaiah 43:14-21
Devotional:
God is not limited by the landscape you are currently standing in. He made a way through the Red Sea for a people who had never seen a parted sea. He provided manna in a wilderness where there was no bakery and no farm. And in Isaiah 43, he announces that he is about to do it again, something so new that the old miracles will pale in comparison. But he asks a penetrating question: can you perceive it? God wants you to have a consecrated imagination, one that is surrendered to his Spirit and open to his leading. The wilderness you are walking through is not your final destination. It is the very place where God is making a river.
Personal Reflection:
- What wilderness season in your life has made it difficult to imagine God doing something new?
- What does it mean practically to have a consecrated imagination in your daily walk with God?
Practical Application: Spend time today in quiet reflection, asking the Holy Spirit to show you something new that God wants to do in your life, your family, or your community. Journal what comes to mind without immediately filtering it through what seems reasonable or possible.
