The Heart Is the Soil of Your Life
Devotional From The Sermon: You Produce What You Ponder
Rev. Rev. Dr. Bankole Akinbinu
Reading: Proverbs 4:23
Devotional:
A garden left untended will not produce good fruit regardless of how much potential lies in the seed. The same is true of the human heart. As the sermon powerfully states, “what fills your heart will fuel your thoughts. The heart shapes what the mind dwells on.” If your heart is saturated with anxiety, bitterness, or unresolved pain, the thoughts that grow from that soil will reflect it. But God is a gardener who specializes in restoration. He does not look at the condition of your heart and walk away. He looks at the chaos and says, as he said at creation, let there be light. Invite him into the garden of your heart today.
Personal Reflection:
What has been growing in the soil of your heart lately, and what does it reveal about its condition?
Practical Application: Spend ten minutes in silence asking God to show you one area of your heart that needs tending. Write what comes to mind without judgment.
