Do Not Stop at However
Devotional From The Sermon: How-Ever: Faith for the Other Side of However
Rev. Rev. Dr. Bankole Akinbinu
Reading: Romans 8:28-39
Devotional:
Paul wrote these words from a life that was full of howevers. Shipwrecks. Beatings. Imprisonment. Rejection. Betrayal. He had every reason to stop at however and never did. His confidence was not in his circumstances. It was in the God who governed his circumstances. He understood what Caleb and Joshua understood – that God does not fulfill His promises in the absence of obstacles but in the face of them. The wilderness does not have to be your final destination. The however does not have to be your last word. There are miracles waiting for you on the other side of the obstacle you are staring at today. Do not stop. Keep believing. Keep moving. The God who raised Jesus from the dead is more than able to bring you through whatever stands between you and the future He has prepared.
Reflection: What however has been functioning as a stopping point in your life? What would it look like to keep moving in faith despite its presence?
Application: Close this five-day devotional by writing a prayer of surrender and faith. Acknowledge the however you are facing, name it honestly before God, and then declare your trust that He is greater than the obstacle and faithful to His promises in your life.
