Sermon Series: The Christ of a Comeback
Sermon Title: A Comeback From Foolish Choices
Reading: Ephesians 2:1-10
Devotional: “Grace Over Merit”
We live in a world obsessed with earning and deserving, but God’s kingdom operates on different economics. You cannot serve your way into sonship, and you cannot sin your way out of it. Grace means God gives you what you don’t deserve, while mercy means He withholds what you do deserve. Your standing before God isn’t based on your resume of good works or your report card of spiritual achievements. It’s based entirely on Christ’s finished work.
Stop trying to earn what’s already been freely given. You are God’s child by grace—not by grades, not by performance, not by comparison to others. Rest in this liberating truth: God’s goodness covers you completely.
Reflection:
- In what ways are you still trying to “earn” God’s favor—through busyness, service, morality, or comparison? Name one area where you feel pressure to perform for God.
- How would your prayers, worship, or daily mindset look different if you truly rested in the fact that you are God’s child by grace alone?
