Acknowledging Our Limits

Devotional From The Sermon: The Anxiety-Free Life: The Heavy Shoulders of a Good Man

Rev. Dr. Bankole Akinbinu

Reading: Psalm 32:3-5

Devotional:

Silence about our struggles doesn’t make us strong, it makes us waste away. The psalmist discovered that keeping silent about his burdens caused his bones to deteriorate and his strength to drain. Many men have been taught that acknowledging weakness is somehow unmanly, but this couldn’t be further from the truth. When we give voice to our pain, fears, and struggles, we open the door for God’s healing power to enter. Today, recognize that you don’t have to hold everything in. Your shoulders were never designed to carry infinite weight. Acknowledging your limits isn’t weakness; it’s wisdom. It’s the first step toward experiencing God’s sufficient grace.

Reflection:

  • What burden are you carrying in silence that needs to be brought into the light?
