Known By Name

Devotional From The Sermon: The Anxiety-Free Life: The Anxiety of Advancement

Min. Jordan DeVeaux

Reading: Psalm 139:1-18

Devotional:

Before you ever thought to make a name for yourself, God already knew your name. The psalmist declares that God knows when you sit and when you rise, that He is familiar with all your ways. In a world obsessed with building personal brands and accumulating followers, this truth liberates us from the exhausting pursuit of recognition. You don’t need thousands of likes to validate your existence; the Creator of the universe has inscribed your name on His hands. When anxiety whispers that you’re falling behind or being forgotten, remember: God’s knowledge of you is complete, intimate, and unchanging. Rest in being fully known by the One who matters most.

Reflection:

1. Where do you most feel pressure to “make a name” for yourself right now, and how does Psalm 139 speak into that pressure?

2. What is one concrete practice you can adopt this week to rest in being fully known by God rather than seeking human recognition?
