Childlike Trust in the Father
Devotional From The Sermon: The Anxiety-Free Life: Throwing Your Cares on the One Who Cares
Rev. Dr. Bankole Akinbinu
Reading: Matthew 11:25-30
Devotional:
Jesus invites all who are weary and burdened to come to Him for rest. Notice He doesn’t say, “Fix yourself first” or “Clean up your mess before approaching.” He simply says, “Come.” Children don’t worry about tomorrow’s provision because they trust their parents to care for them. They can sleep through earthquakes because they know they’re secure. As God’s children, we have this same invitation to rest. The anxiety we carry often stems from forgetting our identity—we’re adulting but forgetting we’re still His children. Today, practice childlike dependence. Bring your weariness to Jesus without pretense or performance. Trust that the Father who clothes the lilies and feeds the sparrows cares infinitely more for you.
Reflection:
- Think of one area where you wish you could rest like a child in a parent’s arms. What would it look like to bring that to Jesus today without cleaning it up first?
