Devotional From The Sermon: Who Will Care For Zion?
Rev. Dr. Mycal Brickhouse
Reading: Reading: Psalm 147:1-11
God doesn’t minimize our pain or rush past our reality. The text honestly names the wound: “incurable,” “grievous,” with “no remedy from within.” This isn’t cruelty—it’s compassionate diagnosis. God invites us to be honest about our condition because naming the wound is the first step toward healing.
Too often, we give our problems power by refusing to acknowledge them or by pretending we’re fine when we’re falling apart. But the same God who hears you name your deepest hurt has already decided to heal it. Before you even brought it to Him in prayer, He was waiting—ready to restore, renew, and rebuild.
Your struggle isn’t too deep. Your sin isn’t too great. Your brokenness isn’t too complicated. God specializes in impossible cases. The question isn’t whether God can heal you; it’s whether you’ll trust Him enough to be honest about what needs healing.
Reflection:
- What wound have you been avoiding or hiding?
- Can you name it before God today and trust His healing power?
