Day 4: The Danger of Spiritual Compromise

Devotional From The Sermon: Seeking Voices God Never Sent

Rev. Dr. Bankole Akinbinu

Reading: Deuteronomy 18:9-14, Galatians 5:16-25

Devotional:

When Saul consulted the medium, he had to disguise himself and remove his royal garments. This detail reveals a profound truth: you cannot partner with darkness without removing the righteousness Christ has clothed you in. New Age spirituality—tarot cards, astrology, psychics, mediums—may seem harmless or “just for fun,” but these practices open doors to the demonic realm. God’s prohibitions aren’t restrictive; they’re protective. The enemy wants to normalize spiritual compromise until it becomes like carbon monoxide: odorless, colorless, and lethal. As God’s child, you have the Holy Spirit dwelling within you, giving wisdom and revelation. You don’t need intermediaries who traffic with demons. Keep your garments of righteousness on. Stay identifiable as one who belongs wholly to Christ. The insights demons offer always come with bondage attached.

Reflection:

  • Are there areas where you’ve compromised spiritually, thinking them harmless?
  • What needs to be removed from your life?
