On Saturday, September 19 at 1:00 PM, we’re calling on 200 Baptist Grove Church members to show up for the next ONE Wake Action Meeting — and this month, we’re taking action on affordable housing.
Why does this matter?
Because people should be able to live where they work, raise their families, and remain part of the communities they call home. We cannot continue operating within the same systems, hoping developers will choose to set aside a small portion of housing for people who want to live and work here.
Housing at every affordability level is an investment in a thriving community.
When people are spending more than 30% of their income on housing, they are spending resources that could otherwise support their families, health, education, transportation, and local economy. And in Wake County, more than 1 in 4 households are already experiencing this burden.
This is about more than housing. It’s about whether our community remains a place where people can afford to live, work, worship, and thrive.
