Sermon Series: The Christ of a Comeback
Sermon Title: A Comeback from Pain
Reading: John 1:12-13; 1 John 3:1-3
Devotional: From Unclean to Daughter
Jesus didn’t just heal her; He called her “daughter.” Religion had labeled her unclean, unworthy, unwelcome. But relationship with Jesus gave her a new identity. She went from outcast to family, from contaminated to cherished. This is the gospel’s greatest miracle—not just that God fixes our problems, but that He adopts us as His children.
You are not defined by your past, your pain, or your mistakes. You are defined by whose you are. As many as believe in Him, to them He gives the right to become children of God. Your heavenly Father watches over you, provides for you, protects you, and purposes great things for you. You are His beloved daughter, His treasured son.
Reflection:
- How does knowing you’re a child of God change the way you see yourself?
- What does it mean to you that God calls you “daughter” or “son”?
Closing Prayer:
Father, thank You that You are the Christ of a comeback. No matter how long I’ve been hurting, no matter how desperate my situation, You have the power to restore me immediately. Help me to hear about Jesus, to humble myself, and to reach out in faith. Transform my pain into testimony, my struggle into strength, and my past into purpose. I receive my identity as Your child. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
