Leaning Forward, Not Backward

Devotional From The Sermon: Dreaming Beyond Our Days

Rev. Rev. Dr. Bankole Akinbinu

Reading: Luke 24:5-6; Proverbs 13:22

Devotional:

When the women arrived at the tomb, the angels asked them a penetrating question: why are you looking for the living among the dead? It is a question worth sitting with today. How often do we anchor ourselves to what God did in a previous season, failing to pursue where he is moving now? A good person leaves an inheritance to their children’s children. Not just material wealth, but spiritual legacy, living testimony, and forward-looking faith. God is alive and on the move. Do not let comfort with the familiar cause you to miss what he is doing in the present and building for the future.

Personal Reflection:

• Are there any “dead” or past things you are tempted to hold onto instead of following where God is moving now?
• What comforts, traditions, or preferences might be keeping you from leaning forward in faith?
