Strength for the Road Ahead

Devotional From The Sermon: From A Place of Pressure

Rev. Quishun Jenkins

Reading: 1 Kings 19:4-8

Devotional:

Prayer does not always remove what you are facing. Sometimes it simply equips you to face it. Jesus prayed three times for the cup to pass. The cup did not pass. But Jesus rose from that place of prayer ready to move forward. God’s answer to our pressure is not always elimination sometimes it is fortification. Like Elijah waking to find food prepared beside him in the wilderness, God meets us in our most depleted moments with exactly what we need to take the next step. You are stronger than you currently believe. God has resources you have not yet seen. Arise.

Personal Reflection: Where have you been waiting for God to remove a difficulty rather than asking him for strength to walk through it? How does that shift in perspective change your prayer today?
