The Minority Report
Devotional From The Sermon: How-Ever: Faith for the Other Side of However
Rev. Rev. Dr. Bankole Akinbinu
Reading: Numbers 14:5-10
Devotional:
Caleb and Joshua tore their clothes. They were not performing a dramatic gesture for effect. They were genuinely grieved that the people they loved were choosing fear over faith. They stood before an angry congregation that was ready to stone them and declared that the land was exceedingly good. They did not deny the giants. They did not pretend the cities were not fortified. They simply refused to let the obstacles have the final word. Sometimes faithfulness means being the minority voice in a room full of doubt. It means standing firm when the crowd is moving in the wrong direction. God honors the courage of those who refuse to stop at however, even when they stand nearly alone.
Reflection: Is there an area of your life where you have allowed the majority opinion (the voices of doubt, fear, or discouragement) to override what God has clearly spoken to you?
Application: Identify one person in your life who models the faith of Caleb and Joshua. Reach out to them this week and ask them to pray with you about a specific however you are facing.
