The Power of Community Prayer

Devotional From The Sermon: The Anxiety-Free Life: The Heavy Shoulders of a Good Man

Rev. Dr. Bankole Akinbinu

Reading: James 5:16; 2 Corinthians 1:11

Devotional:

Paul didn’t just pray. He asked others to pray for him. He understood that we’re not meant to carry our burdens alone or pray through them in isolation. When you invite others into your struggles through prayer, you activate the power of corporate intercession. Many will give thanks when God answers prayers that many have prayed. Don’t let pride keep you from saying, “Pray for me.” Those three words aren’t a sign of weakness but of wisdom. Find brothers who will stand with you, pray for you, and remind you of God’s faithfulness when you’re tempted to forget. Link arms with other men who understand the weight of responsibility and the necessity of divine help.

Reflection:

  • Who can you ask to pray for you today, and who can you commit to praying for regularly?
