We all go through valley seasons, but you don’t have to go through them alone. Stephen Ministry is a caregiving ministry for people who are in need of one-on-one emotional and spiritual support. It’s Christian, compassionate, and confidential care to help you reach the other side.

Stephen Ministry is broken into three groups:
Stephen Leaders

Stephen Leaders are congregation members who recruit and train Stephen Ministers, match care receivers with Stephen Ministers, and provide Stephen Ministers with ongoing supervision and continuing education.

Stephen Ministers

Stephen Ministers are BGC members who have gone through 10 weeks of intense training on how to provide care, listen well, encourage, pray with, and connect their care receivers to the right level of care.

Care Receivers

Care Receivers are hurting adults (18+) who receive one-on-one care from a Stephen Minister as they go through their valley. The relationship between a Stephen Minister and care receiver is completely confidential. Male care receivers are matched with male Stephen Ministers, and female care receivers with female Stephen Ministers.

How do I receive a Stephen Minister?

If you are in a valley season and want to know if having a Stephen Minister is right for you, call our Stephen Ministry confidential hotline at (919) 867-7606 or email us at [email protected]. Please allow 24 hours for the Referral Coordinator to respond to your request and begin the intake process. Information is handled in the most sensitive manner.

We support your healing and well-being. If you are experiencing a mental health emergency or need immediate emotional support, please call 911, go to your nearest emergency room, or contact Alliance Health Crisis Response 24-Hour Crisis Hotline at (800) 510-9132 or (919) 560-7100.
