Volunteer Job Description: Scripture Foundation: “He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness and to walk humbly with your God?” (Micah 6:8 ESV)
Ministry Goal: Our vision is a future where the Church puts their faith in action and becomes the leading force for Social Justice.
Mission Statement: The Social Justice Ministry empowers the members of Baptist Grove Church to participate in changing their community by providing information and programming that addresses current issues in social justice.
Roles & Responsibilities: As a member or volunteer, one can expect opportunities to participate in targeted committees for job training and wage equity, narrowing the education gap, increasing the voice and voting power of underserved populations, and more. These opportunities include behind-the-scenes and on-the-ground activities.
- Core Team Member – A core team member is enthusiastic, builds relationships, and leads the way! This person has passion and energy to motivate others and encourage engagement. Core team members also help develop, plan, and coordinate ministry activities. Time commitment includes attending regular ministry meetings (once per quarter) and supporting ministry outreach and initiatives (2-3 events in each Fall and Spring).
- Team member – A team member is passionate about defending social justice issues in our community. Time commitment includes attending regular ministry meetings (once per quarter) and participation in ministry outreach and initiatives (2-3 events in each Fall and Spring).
- Outreach Volunteer – This individual may or may not be a ministry team member, but feels led or inspired to help support specific Social Justice Ministry events or initiatives. Time commitment will vary depending on the event.
Requirements to Serve: A willing spirit!
Immediate Volunteer Needs:
- Core Team Member
- Canvasser – These individuals will conduct door to door outreach in low voting, disenfranchised precincts with the goal of increasing voter turnout in November. Requirements: Attend a one-hour virtual training on canvassing. Attend at least one, three-hour neighborhood canvass.
